The Challenge
A sprawling legacy URL structure had grown organically over several years, and it threatened significant traffic loss in the migration. Many of the highest-ranking pages were deep-linked PDFs and resource articles with no easy match in the new site hierarchy. Tracking was broken too. The existing setup mixed hard-coded scripts with legacy GTM containers, so the lead-to-conversion path across the new site's interactive elements couldn't be tracked accurately. No high-value backlink equity could be lost, and the analytics infrastructure had to be upgraded at the same time to support more granular attribution.
Our Approach
"Redirect Integrity" came first for technical SEO, ahead of everything else in the project. We performed a comprehensive crawl of the legacy site to identify every URL with historical traffic or backlink authority, then built a 1-to-1 mapping into the new directory structure. The tracking gap got its own rebuild. We reconstructed the GTM architecture with a "Data Layer First" approach, defining custom event triggers for every high-value conversion point, such as gated content downloads and demo requests. All tracking stayed compliant with industry-specific data privacy standards. Before the DNS switch, a final QA "double-crawl" validation confirmed that every legacy URL resolved correctly.

We perform a "flattening" of the redirect map. Instead of creating a chain (A -> B -> C), we identify the original source and map it directly to the final destination on the new site (A -> C, B -> C). Users get lower latency. Search engine crawlers pass the maximum amount of authority in a single hop.
