Upon arriving at a website, an anonymous visitor becomes a sales prospect.  The footprint that visitors leave behind is an asset  that can be leveraged in a twofold manner: to (a) increase revenues or (b) decrease costs.

The importance of web data analysis cannot be overstimated given investment that business are continuing to pour into their online presence.  Populist trending has a created a wave of commerce associated with getting visitors to a website, but not nearly the same degree of attention is paid to those visitors once they arrive.
